Liverpool Waterfront
Work of Other Photographers
In these photos I have found of Liverpool Waterfront are many different styles for making it look scenic. Some photos make use of good weather and use the bright sky to match with a vibrant blue sea. Some use a more gloomy sky to produce better reflections in the sea which is what we did on the day of our visit. The day was particularly grey but we still produced colourful pictures of a good standard. The contrast of the dark sky to the vibrant colours proved to have a positive result.
In some of these photos from other photographers, they have used the reflection of the River Mersey for an artistic effect. This matched with a more lighter sky creates a colourful and vibrant photograph. This is the effect I replicated in my photos while out on day with a pale blue sky which worked well. A few other photographers have taken wider panoramas which I also replicated. The wider view does a great job of enabling you to take in the entire skyline that Liverpool waterfront has to offer. Although the night-time pictures are effective through the bright lights against the dark sky, I was not able to take these photos due to limitations about the time of day. |
The Work of Mark McNulty
Mark McNulty is a local Liverpool photographer who has professionally took excellent images of Liverpool's iconic waterfront. In his images, he uses the bright colours of the buildings and clear blue sky to his advantage. He also alters the level of colour and saturation in his photos using photoshop which will have largely improved his original images. He also uses angles particularly well like in the lower level shots of the lambannanas. These allow him to create many different perspectives of the waterfront from close ups to wide angle shots
I have tried to use some of the effects seen in these photos to create a similar style to his. On the day of shooting however, the sky was quite gloomy. This meant that my images were not as vibrant as McNulty's but I did try to produce some colour from the rest of the surroundings. I used both close up and wide angle shots to create different perspectives similar to McNulty. I also tried to make the sky more vibrant in photoshop where I could although this is less apparent in some images. |

My Posters
These posters advertise Liverpool as a tourist attraction. I have written quotes from tourists on them and have placed my own images to advertise Liverpool's scenic views. I have went for both colourful and more subtle and monochromatic posters to show a variety of different takes on the mood and target audience of tourists.
